HOLISTIC HEALTH COACHING
Individualized coaching support is offered to adults of all neurotypes who are interested in developing mindfulness skills to improve health and wellness, and understanding the interplay between our environments, thoughts, and behaviors. Mindful BA also offers specialized support to late-identified Autistic adults seeking help in creating a life more supportive to Autistic styles and needs.
Mindful BA does not provide therapy / counseling. Rather, it is a supportive coaching practice that focuses on strength identification and increasing psychological flexibility (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy / DNA-V), paired with behavioral learning principles and techniques, to develop and build new skill sets that increase your opportunities to contact the things that matter most to you in life.
Mindfulness is a main component of this approach because it is through the pauses that mindfulness affords us in which we can open up our choices and options in how we are moving through the world. This is where transformative change can occur. Bhante Gunaratana says it best, “Mindfulness gives us time. Time gives us choices. Choices, skillfully made, lead to freedom.” By improving our mindfulness skill set, we get better at noticing what is happening within our bodies and within our minds in the present moment. When we create this space, we can then make skillful decisions in how we move forward given the context we are presently in, rather than limiting ourselves by repeating ineffective or harmful behavior repertoires that result from unhelpful thoughts and rigid rules we have created for ourselves, or have been imposed upon us.
Through collaboration and support, you will be guided through the components of ACT / DNA-V and use of behavior principles to engage in life how YOU want, and in ways that best support your health and wellness. In this process, you will discover your true strengths and values which will guide the development of unique, specific goals, with progress data as our guide. The strategies developed will aim to improve psychological flexibility, through mindfulness and acceptance behaviors, in order to live a more open and engaged life, while honoring and celebrating your neurotype. It will never be about changing who you are, but rather, finding acceptance for who you are and living in a way that honors your true self and values.
Sessions are delivered remotely through a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. Services (including mindfulness styles and strategies) and forms of communication will be tailored based on your individual needs and preferences.
